Missy is an artist based in Portland, Maine. She has filled five Moleskine sketchbooks with paintings depicting her travels through Turkey, Morocco, France, Finland, Sweden, Iceland, and the United States. She loves inspiring others to keep a sketchbook and giving tips on using acrylic-ink, her favorite paint medium. Missy received her Bachelor's Degree in Fine Art from Carnegie Mellon University in 2010. She was awarded a Fulbright Fellowship to Turkey in 2013 and has been on the move ever since, attending artist-in-residence programs abroad every year. Her illustrations are featured by Penguin Random House India, Travel + Leisure, Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, The National Audubon Society, and more. Description
Learn how to translate photos into gestural paintings that capture the memory of the moment better than a photograph. Painter, Fullbright fellow and world traveler, Missy Dunaway, will walk you through her process of painting with acrylic inks in Moleskine journals. In this class, she uses an impressionistic approach to create a daylight landscape, adding shadowy details for interest. You'll learn how to create your very own original painting in layers, mixing color on the page and using evocative brushwork to bring the painting to life.
